Description
Shirley Gray was born in Beaver Dam Kentucky and graduated from Western Kentucky University. She continued her education and earned her PhD. While at WKU Gray became the first female drum major in Kentucky. Gray's research on the Greek Mathematician Archimedes led her to discover a piece of mathematics that had not been previously published or talked about for about 2,000 years. Gray went on to work as a professor of mathematics at Cal State University.
