Abstract

In our Kinesiology field and related disciplines, there are two overarching goals we seek to help others achieve: optimal functioning and optimal performance. The use of the biopsychosocial approach in Exercise Science and beyond has vastly evolved in its use with athletes, patients and clients over time. This has aided us in the ability to create opportunities for successful experiences and to better connect with those we are serving through our communication and interactions. Dr. Mayol’s presentation will explore her own professional evolution regarding the importance of the psychosocial aspects of functioning and performance as well as her experiences, jobs and research that has guided her over a 20-year career.
