Abstract
This presentation will explore the wide variety of teaching and research opportunities that led Dr. Long to his current position as a faculty member in Exercise Science. From early field work in sports sociology and collegiate athletics, to more recent experiences with basic science and a PhD in clinical exercise physiology, Gary will discuss how a well-rounded (and sometimes uncertain) career path has provided a skill set that allows for creativity and adaptability in an academic setting. The discussion of important decisions, accomplishments, and challenges will show a winding road of career development that has resulted in genuinely meaningful and exciting experiences across more than 20 years in the field.
