Abstract
Most individuals outside of research are unaware of the function of an Institutional Review Board (IRB). The IRB is a group of individuals who review human subjects research that wants to be completed by individuals in their organization or institution. The IRB protects the human subjects' rights and welfare involved in research and has the authority to approve, require modifications or disapprove of the research. For the IRB to protect the human subjects' rights and welfare, the group reviews research protocols and any documents given or observed by other individuals interested in the research(i.e.:informed consent and recruitment materials). In this interactive tutorial, you will learn about the make-up of the IRB group and the process of preparing and submitting an IRB with an example research project.
