Postcard of Old Amsterdam from Ilee Smith's European trip scrapbook, her caption "Note all the buildings have an arm at the top - pulleys for moving furniture into the upper floors.
The ground settles, the buildings lean. Curtains at the windows most interesting. Many had 'dutch' curtain at the upper half of the lower window."
